Installing and configuring Nagios on fedora 26

Nagios offers monitoring and alerting services for servers, switches applications and services. It alerts users when things go wrong and alerts them a second time when the problem has been resolved.

1.Installing Nagios monitoring on fedora 26

[12:29 root@server /home/cipher]# dnf install nagios nagios-plugins-{ping,disk,users,procs,load,swap,ssh,http}

Dependencies resolved.

2.Nagiosadmin user password creation.

[12:37 root@server /home/cipher]# htpasswd /etc/nagios/passwd nagiosadmin
New password:
Re-type new password:
Updating password for user nagiosadmin

3.Start,enable nagios service

[12:38 root@server /home/cipher]# systemctl start nagios
[12:39 root@server /home/cipher]# systemctl enable nagios
Created symlink /etc/systemd/system/ → /usr/lib/systemd/system/nagios.service.
[12:39 root@server /home/cipher]# systemctl status nagios

4.Allow nagios in firewalld

[12:41 root@server /home/cipher]# firewall-cmd --add-service={http,https} --permanent

[12:41 root@server /home/cipher]# firewall-cmd --reload

5.Access nagios page from
user nagiosadmin
password xxxxxxx
